Guiding Values

1. We build strength through community and mutual support

Change begins with the power of community. By growing together, investing in one another, and standing in solidarity, we amplify our impact. We create spaces for learning, growth, and collective action, encouraging everyone to use their voice. In doing so, we challenge those around us to make a choice: stand with us in fighting for a safer, more sustainable Pune, or remain silent and complicit in the harm being done.

2. Our efforts are collective and rooted in Pune’s unique needs

While our focus is local, we understand the interconnectedness of our actions and their wider impact. By working collaboratively with residents, civic bodies, and organizations, we amplify the changes needed for Pune. Together, we strive for a city that balances tradition, modernity, and sustainability for all.

3. We are committed to dismantling systems of exclusion

As a community, we hold ourselves accountable to unlearning biases and addressing barriers that prevent inclusivity. Through education, dialogue, and introspection, we challenge exclusionary systems and practices, ensuring our work reflects the equity we advocate.

4. We center and uplift the voices of Pune’s diverse communities

The most vulnerable often bear the brunt of urban challenges. Whether it’s pedestrians, cyclists, senior citizens, or marginalized groups, we prioritize their voices and lived experiences. These perspectives are foundational to building a safer, more inclusive city for everyone.

5. Our movement is open to all and powered by Pune’s people

Achieving sustainable and safe mobility requires diverse perspectives, skills, and tools. By embracing inclusivity and inviting all who share our vision to join, we build momentum through public engagement, grassroots action, and collective effort. This movement belongs to ordinary Punekars united for extraordinary change.

6. We demand systemic change that works for Pune’s people

True transformation goes beyond quick fixes. We remain independent, advocating for long-term, people-centric changes in urban planning, governance, and mobility systems. Our work is driven by the needs of Pune’s residents, not by vested interests.

7. We believe in collective progress and shared responsibility

Injustice in any part of Pune affects the city as a whole. Our efforts are grounded in solidarity, self-care, and mutual support, understanding that progress is only possible when all communities move forward together.

8. Our resistance is rooted in care and commitment

Driving change demands diverse strategies, but our core values lie in compassion, nonviolence, and purposeful action. By addressing urban challenges with empathy and resilience, we envision a Pune that is safer, healthier, and more equitable.

9. We hold onto hope and courage, even in challenging times

Transforming Pune into a model city is a challenging journey, but resilience and optimism are at the heart of our movement. Together, we celebrate milestones and find strength to keep moving forward, knowing our collective efforts will bring lasting change.
